I understand

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas is just around the corner, and your attention is probably turning to how you can make this year extra special for your little ones.

You may well know that Christmas Eve boxes have become popular in recent years. This new tradition stems from how the Germans celebrate Christmas by opening their gifts on 24th December rather than the 25th. The boxes can come in all shapes and sizes with various gifts and items to fill them.

You can buy pre-packed Christmas Eve boxes, but if you’re looking to do something a little more homemade, then we hope this easy guide will provide you with some inspiration.

Start with a box

You can use any box you already have at home or buy one. Wooden boxes with a lid are popular for making DIY Christmas Eve boxes as they're long-lasting but if you have a spare shoe box, why not use that? You may even have empty cardboard boxes at home from deliveries, when these are decorated they will look just as appealing as a bought box. Now is the time to decide what you would like to add to it. We’ve compiled a list of items for you to consider below.

1. A set of festive PJ’s

Is there anything better than getting into a fresh set of PJ’s before heading off to bed on Christmas Eve? We’re yet to find it!

2. Reindeer Food

Reindeer food is a must-have for any Christmas Eve box. Magical Reindeer Food to guide Santa and his Reindeers to your home.

3. Sweet Treats

It’s always good to treat the little ones at Christmas. You could opt for something even more fun and gift your kids hot chocolate with marshmallows - the ultimate pre-bedtime treat.

4. Christmas Book

There are few things better than snuggling up with your loved ones and reading – whether that’s aloud to each other or simply being together whilst lost in your own book. Particularly for children, making books central to a celebration like Christmas is a great way of showing them how important they are and encouraging their love of reading in the process.

5. Christmas Activity Sheets

Another great idea is lots of fun Christmas activity sheets and games for your child to do. It should help you to manage excitement levels during the day or before they go to bed. Hopefully, after completing these fantastic Christmas activity sheets, your child will sleep easily while they wait for Santa to deliver their presents.

Whatever items you choose for your Christmas Eve Box, we have no doubt that it will create lots of excitement and awe in preparation for Father Christmas’s visit!

Merry Christmas.
