Location: Liverpool
Hours: 35 hours per week, Term Time Only (39 weeks)
Contract: Maternity Cover ( Until June 2027)
Pay: £18.47–£19.59 per hour (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced Early Years professional ready to step into a leadership role? We’re seeking a confident and capable Deputy Nursery Manager to support the daily running of a busy, high‑quality nursery setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for an agency worker looking to take on responsibility, lead practice, and make a real impact.

About the Role

As Deputy Nursery Manager, you will support the Nursery Manager in all aspects of the nursery’s operation, ensuring the highest standards of care, learning, and safeguarding. You will act as SENCo, lead staff within required ratios, and take charge of the setting in the Manager’s absence.

You will work in line with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including the EYFS (2024), Childcare Act 2006, KCSIE, Prevent Duty, Working Together 2026, Ofsted, Health & Safety, GDPR, and Local Authority guidance.

This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, organised and passionate about delivering exceptional early years provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Manager with the day‑to‑day running of the nursery
  • Lead staff to deliver high‑quality, inclusive childcare and education
  • Act as SENCo, supporting children with additional needs
  • Contribute to planning and delivering an EYFS‑aligned curriculum
  • Support staff supervision, team meetings, and observations of practice
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure GDPR‑compliant documentation
  • Assist with early years funding claims and occupancy processes
  • Support with purchasing, stock control, and petty cash procedures
  • Contribute to Ofsted readiness and quality assurance activities
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding and child protection concerns

What We’re Looking For

Essential Criteria

  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • At least three years of experience working in an Early Years setting
  • Knowledge of child development, the EYFS framework, and safeguarding responsibilities
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to provide guidance to others
  • Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and use initiative
  • Experience contributing to staff supervision and supporting quality assurance processes
  • Strong organisational skills with a consistent and professional approach to practice
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards and promoting positive outcomes for children
  • Openness to ongoing training, learning, and professional development

Desirable Criteria

  • Additional qualifications related to Early Years or Special Educational Needs (SEN)
