Job Description – 1:1 Support Assistant (Year 5 – SEMH)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Hourly rate: £15 per hour + Holiday pay
Location: L25
Role Purpose
To provide consistent, calm, and reliable one‑to‑one support for a Year 5 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role involves supporting the pupil both in and out of the classroom, helping him to regulate, access learning, and feel safe and understood throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide steady 1:1 support during lessons and transitions
- Use a firm but calm approach to build trust
- Help Isaac regulate and prevent dysregulation or meltdowns
- Support learning, behaviour, and emotional needs
- Follow strategies set by the class teacher and SENCO
Person Specification
- Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient.
- Able to set clear boundaries while remaining warm and supportive.
- Confident in managing behaviour and following SEMH strategies.
- Able to build trust and rapport with a bright, articulate pupil who needs consistency.
- Good communication skills and a reflective, team‑focused approach.
- Experience with SEMH or behaviour support (desirable but not essential).
