Support Worker / Teaching Assistant – SEN & Learning Difficulty Needs

Location: Netherley, L27
Pay: £14.50 per hour
Contract: Long-term

Term time role, Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 3:30pm!

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Worker / Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Netherley (L27). This rewarding role involves supporting children with severe learning difficulties and complex autism, helping them to thrive both academically and personally.

About the Role

As part of the school’s supportive team, you will:

  • Provide tailored support to children with complex learning needs and autism
  • Assist with communication and social interaction development
  • Administer medication and support physical therapy programmes (as required)
  • Offer help with personal care and hygiene
  • Encourage learning through play and creative activities

While a Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable, relevant experience supporting children with SEN and Learning Difficulties is the most important factor.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Empathetic, patient, and supportive, with a genuine passion for helping children reach their potential
  • Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Confident in managing behaviour and promoting a calm, nurturing environment
  • Reliable and proactive, with a strong commitment to pupil safety and wellbeing

Requirements

  • An enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Registration with the DBS Update Service
  • A minimum of five years of references
