Children and Young People's Residential Support Worker
Location: Southport
Contract: Permanent / Full-Time
Salary: £27,000
Shifts: Predominantly sleep-ins / night shifts as part of the rota

We are recruiting dedicated, compassionate Residential Support Workers to join one of our clients teams and help create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where young people can thrive.
About the Role
As a Children and Young People's Residential Support Worker, you will be part of a committed team providing a high-quality residential service to children and young people age 7 to 17. You will help ensure their physical, emotional, and social needs are met, supporting their holistic development, resilience, and positive future outcomes.
You will act as a positive role model, offer consistent support, and work in line with care and placement plans to help young people feel safe, secure, and valued.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Children & Young People
- Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Report any unsafe practices or concerns immediately.
- Promote healthy boundaries, structure, and routines within the home.
- Provide a positive and professional role model at all times.
- Support young people using appropriate intervention strategies to encourage pro-social behaviour.
- Act as a key worker and deliver direct, individual support as needed.
- Support young people with group work, projects, and leisure activities in line with their care plans.
Teamwork & Professional Development
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive team and help guide less experienced staff.
- Participate in training as required by regulation, guidance, and organisational policy.
- Promote equality, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice.
- Attend staff meetings, supervision, and reflective practice sessions.
- Undertake sleep-in duties according to the rota.
- Take part in ongoing training and professional development.
- Carry out additional reasonable duties as required, including deputising for senior staff when necessary.
Regulatory & Administrative Responsibilities
- Work in line with all company policies, procedures, and Children’s Homes Regulations.
- Support young people in accordance with their individual care and placement plans.
- Complete accurate and timely records and reports as required.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, external professionals, young people, and their families.
- Contribute to statutory reviews and meetings by providing written and verbal reports when required.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of key policies, including safeguarding, fire safety, and health & safety procedures.
Desirable Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (highly desirable due to the nature of the role).
- Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (children’s social care pathway) or equivalent.
- Or a commitment to obtain this qualification within 2 years.
