This is a long term temporary role!

35 Hours per week - 5 days per week -Term time only - 39 weeks per year.

We require a manager who has a minimum of 2 years experience managing a nursery setting.

Must have Level 3 in Childcare.

The purpose of the role is to provide professional leadership to nursery staff and to manage the day-to-day running of the nursery. This will include effectively managing staff rotas, student placements parent enquiries, staff performance, team training and well being.

The post holder has designated responsibility for safeguarding nursery children, responding to safeguarding and child protection incidents on an immediate basis in line with policies, procedures and protocols.

Nursery Manager Job Description

The post holder is responsible for the daily running and administration of the nursery. They must adhere to our policies and procedures ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance including, the Childcare Act 2006, Working Together 2018, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, Prevent Duty, Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), Ofsted framework, Health and Safety, GDPR, Food Standards Agency, and Local Authority requirements.

In the absence of the Childcare Manager, the Nursery Manager assumes the role of Deputy. Therefore, sound knowledge and understanding of their role is needed.

Nursery Manager Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with legislation, guidance and conditions of registration
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the nursery ensuring the highest standards are maintained
  • Induct, support, appraise and manage nursery staff to ensure best practice
  • Review policies and procedures in line with legislative/government guidance, local authority strategies and practice/training developments
  • Managerial lead in any Ofsted inspection. Ensuring the nursery conforms to and exceeds Ofsted requirements and undertaking the necessary preparation for inspection visit
  • To be responsible for the construction and delivery of a fully inclusive curriculum adhering to the principles of the EYFS through effective staff management and deployment

  • Demonstrate the highest possible standards of personal and professional conduct and behaviour and consistently act with honesty and integrity.
  • Contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College Group ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of college life.
  • Support cross college activities as required, in particular during key enrollment and invigilation periods.
  • Carry out any other relevant and appropriate duties as determined by the needs of the service and as appropriate to the grade.

Nursery Manager Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • Qualified to at least Level 3 in Early Years childcare/education
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management role within a nursery/childcare environment
  • A deep level of knowledge and understanding of child development, key legislative framework, The Early Years Foundation Stage, safeguarding and child protection practices
